As a young man George became wheelsman on the MS Kenora and a logger cutting pulp wood. Then pursued a career as a Heavy Equipment Operator and later a foreman for Erickson Construction. He was known for his strength, skill and ability and one time even lifted a car off a neighbor, saving his life. He was a man of few words, Jets hockey fan, kind, humble, very smart, and one of the best dozer operators.
It was George’s wish to not have a funeral, but a private celebration of life which will be held at a later date, as well as the burial of his ashes.
The family wishes to offer sincere thanks and appreciation for the aid and sympathy of all their friends and neighbours.
I made it home.
I just wanted to let you all know that I made it home. The journey wasn’t an easy one, but it didn’t take too long. Everything is so pretty here, so white, so fresh and new. I wish that you all could close your eyes and that you can see it too. Please try not to be sad for me. Try and understand God is taking care of me……. I’m in the shelter of his hands. Here there is no sadness, no sorrow, and no pain. Here there is no crime and I’ll never hurt again. Here it is so peaceful when all the angels sing. I really have to go for now. I’ve just got to try my wings.
PS. I’ll be the first face you see when you get here.`
