Aartje Marie Taylor

March 25, 1928 – November 20, 2017

Aartje passed away peacefully at Betel Home in Gimli, Manitoba. She was born in Zeist, Holland and came to Canada in 1946 as a Dutch War bride. She lived a full and busy life in Canada beginning in Sheridan, Manitoba, then Birch River, Winnipeg and Gimli. She was known as an outgoing, hard-working, helpful person, with enormous gardens and wonderful baking. After retiring, she enjoyed life on their acreage in Gimli and did volunteer work in and around the community.

Aartje was predeceased by her first husband Lester Brauner in 1968; her second husband Fred Taylor in 2008, daughter Katherine, and two grandchildren John and Sherilyn.

She is survived by her 5 children, Arnold (Sandy) of Red Deer, Alberta; Kathy (Len) of Abbotsford, B.C.; Lloyd (Judy) of Saskatoon, SK; Joan (Stanley) of Churchill, MB and Janet (Tom) of Thompson, MB, along with their families which includes at least 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the many people that their Mom encountered in her journey through life. Many thanks to the staff at Betel Home for their care over the last few years, also thank you to Dr. R.C. Patel. The family would like to extend special thanks to Judy for her friendship, love and care for their Mom over many years.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Gimli, Manitoba. Interment to follow at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery.
