Allan Cartlidge Obituary

Allan Cartlidge

September 17, 1928 - July 19, 2018

Just after sunrise on a warm summer morning, Al died peacefully in his sleep. He will be greatly missed by the love of his life, wife Mary, as well as his daughters Thora (Terry, Mykhaylo, Petro), Nancy (Dennis, Jake, Liza, Pat), Conni (Brent, Ari, Mary, Joe) and foster daughter Marlene (Jim, Heather). He will also be dearly remembered by all of his great-grandchildren.

Al was predeceased by his step-brother, David Martin, with whom he grew up at Poplar Point, MB.

Life was always an adventure for Al as he moved from hospital administration career to letter carrier to elementary school teacher; from Portage La Prairie to Selkirk to Australia and back; from summer camping trips with his family to canoeing with grandkids to tennis matches with Mary. All of these adventures became stories well-told.

A celebration of Al Cartlidge's life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Gilbart’s Funeral Home in Selkirk, Manitoba. A family service and interment of ashes will have taken place earlier that day, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anne's Anglican Church, Poplar Point, Manitoba.

Condolences, pictures and videos may be left on his tribute wall at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
