William (Bill) Thomas Groves

William (Bill) Thomas Groves, age 59, passed away peacefully in his home on August 16, 2018 surrounded by his family and friends. His hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer ended on the anniversary of the death of Elvis Presley, Bill’s long-time idol.

Bill was born on May 17, 1959 in Winnipeg. In high school, Bill found his passion for auto mechanics and has always been known for his ability to fix anything. He will best be remembered for his kind and giving nature, his love for entertaining, and his ability to negotiate a deal.

He joins his eldest son Sean, his father Bill Groves, his mother Ena “June” Groves-Robertson, his mother in-law Jeanne Kowerko, and nephew John McBride. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kathy; daughter Krissie (Rick); son Garret (Jamie); granddaughter Gemma and his siblings Pat (Ken) McBride, Ray (Marg) Groves, Susan Mclean; brother-in-laws Blaine, Randy, Bob Kowerko and sister-in-law Laurie (Maynard) Lawrence. As well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In honour of Bill, visitation and prayers will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at 7:00 p.m., in the St. Theresa’s Church followed by a Funeral Service on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Theresa’s Church at 3597 Main Street.

Memorial donations in memory of Bill may be made to Cancer Care.
