CLAUDETTE IRVINE
(nee Sauve)
August 11, 1942 – September 10, 2019
Claudette passed away peacefully at the Betel Personal Care Home in Selkirk, Manitoba after a long struggle.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bruce; her children, Christine Martin (Kevin and their children Rachel and Kirstin); Mark Irvine (Merrylyn and stepdaughter Crystal and her daughter Jaida); Catherine Irvine (Bob Milne); and her siblings Lorraine Pursel, Georgette Wade, Claire Bennett, Donald Sauve (Donna), Ted Sauve (Gloria) and sister in law Pauline Scott (Ron)
Claudette was born in New Liskeard, Ontario and grew up in Haileybury, Ontario. Her early years were spent on the family farm, moving to town at the age of 10. As a girl, she loved swimming in the nearby lake, she greatly enjoyed meeting new friends when she moved to Haileybury and maintained contact with those childhood friends throughout her life even after moving far away.
Married life started off in Wawa, Ontario in 1962, where Christine, Catherine and Mark were born soon after. In 1973 she settled in Selkirk, Manitoba where she lived until 1982, whereupon she and Bruce made their final move to the countryside in Lockport, Manitoba. In her later years, Claudette was very fond of spending winters in France and Spain. She looked forward to those trips every year.
A heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Betel Home in Selkirk for their dedication and compassion in caring for Claudette.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service at this time. Claudette’s remains will be interred at the Greenwood Cemetery in Waterford, Ontario and a later date.
