David Alexander Pawluk    
 1941-2019


  It is with deepest regret that we the family announce after a brief illness with pneumonia, David (Dave) Pawluk, age 78 years, passed away on August 18th, 2019 at the Health Sciences Center, Winnipeg.  
  He leaves behind his loving wife Gail of 57 years; his children Tamara (Leon), Cy, Martha (Kelly) and David (Jeanie); his grandchildren Sabrina (Stephen), Tristin, Amanda, Leif and Alex; his siblings Elaine Mymka, Jim (Colleen) Rydz, and Joni (Randy) Woloshyn; his aunt Stella Swereda as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Alexander Pawluk, mother Pearl Rydz, stepfather Tony Rydz and brother Bert Pawluk. 
  Dave worked as a sign painter/house painter. He worked the majority of his life in the Winnipeg Beach area. Dave also worked for Air Canada as well as time spent painting missile silos for the U.S. Air Force in North Dakota. Dave loved to volunteer his time at many events such as: Demolition Derby, Wonderful Winter Weekend, Boardwalk Days, the Ukrainian Homestead Museum where he served as president, and Ukrainian suppers, to name a few. Dave was also the owner/operator of a roller skating business in Winnipeg Beach and Selkirk. 
  Memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 23rd, 2019 in the Gilbart Funeral Home in Gimli, MB with Pastor Rick Schulz presiding. Interment to follow in the Winnipeg Beach Cemetery on Kernstead Road. Luncheon to follow at the Winnipeg Beach Legion Hall. A special thank you to Dr. Chan and the Gimli Hospital staff as well as the HSC doctors and staff for all of their wonderful care and also thank you to the Gilbart Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lung Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
