Ella Urbanski Obituary

Ella Eleanora Urbanski.
(nee Schlivinsky) June 28, 1937-September 9, 2019

Ella passed away peacefully after a short struggle, at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, MB.

She will be missed by her children Beverley (Sa'ad) and Jennifer, her grandchildren Aysha (Aaron), Sarah,Ameera, Kalila, Michael, Stephanie (Kory) Jessie and great grandchildren Isaac, Emily and Benjamin (who will be joining us October 30, 2019). She was predeceased by her grandson Ramsey and Albert.

Ella was born in Beausejour, MB...grew up in Kirkella, MB with her 12 siblings and eventually moved to the Interlake in Manitoba, where she met Albert. They married and lived on Albert's farm for a short time. When Beverley came along it seems she got so car sick that she couldn't ride the bus to school, so they moved to Winnipeg, where the school was within walking distance. After moving to the city, Ella and Albert began fostering young children for a number of years through Children's Aide. Eventually a baby girl became their foster child, and within a few months they adopted Jennifer permanently. Finally, a little sister for Bev, a family for Jennifer.

As time passed it was decided to relocate back to the family farm, where they became grain farmers, and eventually retired. Ella loved gardening, reading, collecting salt and pepper shakers, cooking and baking. There was always a stew, it seemed, in the fridge. It always amazed us how she could whip up a fabulous meal or dessert at the drop of a hat. The one thing Ella loved the most was her children/grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always wanted to spend as much time as she could with them, and always had a caring shoulder, a warm hug and words of wisdom when those everyday problems and concerns popped up.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 16 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, MB.

Many heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at Grace Hospital for their compassion in caring for Ella.
