It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Frank Payonk on January 24, 2019 at the Red River Place in Selkirk.

Franks leaves to mourn his wife Bernice (nee Skrypetz) of 65 years; brother Walter (Del); sister Doreen Louise (Joe) Vinzenz; sisters-in-law Nettie Skrypec, Minnie (John) Komish; many nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and many friends. Frank always had time for his nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents Anthony and Mary; brothers Charles and Joseph (Joe); sisters Victoria and Grace; sisters-in-law Mary and Patricia and brother-in-law Charles (Carl) Skrypec.

Frank was born in Libau on August 20, 1925. He lived on the farm in Libau with his parents and five siblings. In 1943 Frank went out to work fishing, mining at Yellowknife and also at Churchill.

In 1948 he bought a farm in Holland, Manitoba. In June of 1953 Frank and Bernice got married and continued to farm till 1983, when they sold the farm and moved into the town of Holland. In spring of 2009 they left Holland and moved to Selkirk, Manitoba and made their home at the Selkirk Lions Centre.

Frank went to Red River Place in May 2017. Many thanks to the Red River Place staff for their care and compassion.

Friends and family who wish to make donations in Frank’s memory can do so to a charity of their choice or to the Manitoba Lung Association.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 8, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline St. Selkirk, Manitoba. Burial will be at Polish National Catholic Cemetery, Hwy 317 (Libau).
