FRANKIE SHIELDS
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Frankie on March 21, 2019 at the age of 66 years. She is survived by her husband Darrell Reimer, daughter Stacy (Richard), son Brendan (Teresa) and grandchildren Sebastian, Rorie, Reece, Keegan, Terran and Aislan. Also left to mourn her passing are her brothers Bob and Don and sisters Audrey, Darlaine and Pat.
Frankie was born in Flin Flon, Manitoba in 1952. She was a stay at home mom until her children were in school. She then moved into the workforce until tragedy struck at the age of 29 suffering a severe stroke. She defied the odds and fought back hard to regain her independence, learning to walk and drive again. When she was told by the experts she would not be able to do something she worked twice as hard to prove everyone wrong. She was a resilient woman and an inspiration to many.
She touched the hearts of those who were in her life. Frankie enjoyed cooking, Bingo, and painting however her greatest love was her grandchildren. She was very proud of them. Whenever they would visit Nana she was sure to have a treasure for each of them. She charmed people with her sense of humour and dare-devil attitude. She was always game to get into some mischief if she had a partner in crime.
Special thank you goes out to Selkirk Mental Health Centre, Geriatric Team, and the Area 7 staff. You were part of her family and provided her with the best quality of life possible. Thank you to Betel Home for the wonderful care provided until the time of her passing. Limitless gratitude goes out to Frankie's best friend Bernice Colmer who was always by her side over the years through her many challenges. Your friendship truly meant the world to her.
A Celebration of Frankie's Life will be held later this summer.
