Gudrun Jonasina (Sina) Finley nee Eliasson

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Sina Finley, on Sunday November 24, 2019 at the age of 81.

She will be missed by Leslie (late Jack), Robert (Verna) and Michael (Tammy). Her grandchildren Krista (Doug) Shupena, Tisha (David) Grocholski, Jamie (Jennifer) Samborski, Jessica (Ivan) Frazen, and Cody Finley. Her great-grandchildren Alissa Shupena, Brittany (Tristan) Grocholski, Tyson Grocholski, Jakob and Jerica Samborski, and Rylan Frazen. Her great-great-granddaughter Nevaeh Grocholski. Her niece Janice Hendy and nephews Larry and Terry Finley and their families, Stephen Sigurdson and family. 

Sina was predeceased by her husband Gerry Finley, parents August and Jonina Eliasson, sisters Herdis, Margaret and Nona, nephews David and Brian, niece Ingrid.

Mom married Gerry (Dad) on June 11, 1955 and so began their journey. Their door was always open and the coffee from the "old sock" always hot and many cups were drank.

Mom spent most of her life in her role as wife and stay at home mother.  When her family was grown she went to work with the cadets at the old OBU camp, then at Lakeview Resort from where she retired. Mom made friends easily and treasured each one dearly. 

Amma was a huge part of her grandchildren’s lives and then her great-grandchildren, and for 8 days her great-great-granddaughter.  

Sina lived the last 8 years of her life at the Gimli Betel and took great pride in joining in as many activities as she could. She loved the staff and her caregivers like extended family. Here to she made friends and welcomed new comers with warmth and took on the job of welcome lady. 

We cannot begin to express our gratitude to her extended family for all the love and care they gave her in her final years. We would also like to express our heartfelt thanks to all who cared for mom in her final days at the Gimli Health Centre. Your kindness and dedication did not go unnoticed. Also Dr. Aday for his attention to her care over the years and in her final days. 

In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place and a private burial is planned for a later date.
