James Wilfred Want
February 5, 1931 – June 6, 2018
Suddenly on June 6, 2018, Jim Want passed away from natural causes at his home in Petersfield, Manitoba.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Helen; three sons, Jim (Monica), Bob (Michele), Tom (Wanda) as well as nine grandchildren, Chris, Laura, Derek, Adam, Brandon, Sara, Daniel, Luke and Nathan. Jim was predeceased by his parents, William and Violet Want; sister Thelma Drudge and brother Fred Want.
Jim was born and raised in Selkirk and then they retired in Petersfield.
Jim started work as a mechanic at Collison’s Garage, Steel Worker at Manitoba Rolling Mills, Volunteer Fire Fighter with the Selkirk Fire Department, School Bus Driver, Owner and Operator of Want’s Mini Motors, Ice Maker at Selkirk Curling Club and later Petersfield Curling Club.
Jim enjoyed his years as a fire fighter and was an avid hunter and also involved in numerous curling activities. He was committed to the Petersfield Community and just recently received a Volunteer Award from the R.M. of St. Andrews.
Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Jim’s wishes there will be no funeral service.
