Jon Mowat

Jon Mowat was and always will be an adored father, uncle, son, brother and friend. He was an excellent musician who started playing guitar at the young age of 4 starting off with CCR. He was an intelligent man who graduated as a civil engineer. He loved spending time with his kids, teaching them everything they know, but not everything he knows, as he would always say. He enjoyed listening and learning to play and perform music. Jon and former wife Laurie Favell were a blues/rock duo called Prisoners of Gravity. They shared 2 children. Both children looked to their father for guidance, love and support everyday of their lives. Jon's life was suddenly cut short at the age of 56 on August 14th with his daughter by his side as he would have wanted. 14 coincidentally being his favorite number. Jon was in multiple rock bands growing up and spent many of his years driving bus as did deceased father Pat. Jon leaves behind his children Stevie-Rae (22), Devonne (27) and Kael (28) his adored granddaughter Nelly Isabela, mother Ila, sister Pat (Ray), nephews Jonathan (Ashley), James, Ryan, Stephan (Dolly), mother in-law Agnes and brother in-law Marty. As well as many other loved friends and family members.

A service to celebrate the life of Jon will take place at Gilbart Funeral Home on Thursday, August 22 at noon, with a potluck luncheon to follow.
