Lorne (Percy) Stefanson
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Lorne (Percy) Stefanson, on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, aged 84 years old at the Selkirk Betel Home with his wife by his side.
He leaves to mourn his wife Betty of 36 years; sons Brad (Gaile), Clarence (Wendy); Arthur, Danny, Orville (Denise); daughter Runi (Ted) and stepdaughter Jocelyn (Hal); as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Sam and Runa; brother Walter and daughter Laura- Lie.
Lorne was born in Selkirk on June 5, 1929. After various jobs and while raising his growing family he pursued training at the Selkirk Mental Health Centre to become a registered psychiatric nurse. He was employed at the centre for 28.5 years.
Besides his nursing career his other passion was music. Lorne was the original King of the Saddle for CJOB’s western hour, holding the title longer than any other.
A celebration of Lorne’s life will be held on Friday, August 2 at 3:30 in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk.
The family would like to thank the special staff at the Selkirk Betel Home for the outstanding care provided.
