Myrtle Evelyn Chief

“Horse Woman (Mistidim Ikwe)”

June 12, 1931 – Sept. 30, 2018

She leaves to mourn her daughters Edith and Deborah (Leona); son Vernon (Kathy); daughter-in-law Mary; 12 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren and 49 great, great grandchildren. Myrtle was predeceased by her husband Tom Chief; parents Grace and John Sinclair; son Gilbert; son-in-law Tom Michaud and granddaughter Denise.

Mom was a hard worker all her life, raising her four children and working. She started working in 1969 until she retired. She loved spending time with her many grandchildren, she loved to play bingo and go to South Beach Casino where she was lucky. When she was able to she loved to travel to other bingo sites with her friends.

Mom was a wonderful mother who taught her children many values and beliefs.

Viewing will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 from 7-8 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk, MB. Wake will begin on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. in the Private Tom Chief Memorial Hall in Scanterbury, MB. Funeral Services will take place on Thursday, October 4 at 1:00 p.m. also in the hall with Rev. Vincent Solman officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jared Ross, Vernon, Zander, and Dwain Chief, Melvin Desjarlais, Lloyd Wells.

Honorary pallbearers are Mary Chief, Gertrude Ballantyne, Cheryl Michaud, Melanie Chief, Dolly Chief and Denise Sinclair.

Thank you to the Selkirk Regional Health Centre and the comfort care nurses on the 2nd floor.
