Patrick Ramsey Obituary

PATRICK THOMAS RAMSEY

1916 - 2019

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Patrick Thomas Ramsey at the age of 102 on March 13, 2019 at Kildonan Personal Care Home with family by his side.  Patrick was born July 3, 1916, the son of Tom and Hilda Ramsey of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Predeceased by his wife, the love of his life, Dorothy (2004), father Tom, mother Hilda, brother Harold and sisters Edna and Marge. Beloved father of Judy (Hugh), David (Debbie) and Lorraine; grandfather of Allan (Sue), Ryan (Emily), Paul (Ashley), Stephen (Maria) and Karleigh; step-grandfather of Chris (Jen) and Stephen (Han); great-grandfather of Kelson, Riley, Karah and Lauren; step-great-grandfather of Scarlett, Ruby, Rowan, Aiden, Dexter and Violet.
Pat was a World War II Veteran serving as an Aircraft Mechanic at RCAF Station Portage la Prairie.  He worked at Blue Ribbon Tea and Coffee and later with Hudson Bay Wholesale Vending and Coffee.  He built his first home himself on Banning Street, Winnipeg and his cottage at Petersfield, which he loved until a year after his wife's passing.  He had an eye for building and could fix anything.
Pat and Dorothy thoroughly enjoyed their many travels across Canada and to Mexico, Sweden, Ireland and the United States.
Pat was known for his great sense of humor, enjoyed making people laugh and always saw the positives in everything - perpetually the peacemaker.  One of his favourite quotes was: "Que Sera Sera, Whatever will be, will be!  The future's not ours to see, Que Sera Sera!"  Pat always thought of others before himself and was unfailingly there to support his family.  He died as he lived - with dignity, courage and abiding love.
Dad, Grandpa, Papa, we love you so much.  You are the best!  We cry for you.  We smile with your memory.  We laugh remembering good times shared and cherish the life you lived.  We will always miss you.  You will be in our hearts forever.  You are now united with the love of your life, Dorothy, our Mother.
Special thanks to Drs. F. Sikorra, P. Marzban and R. Haydey and the staff of Seven Oaks General Hospital, Misericordia Interim Care and Kildonan Personal Care Home for their thoughtful dedicated care.  Tom McDermott's kind friendship and charming entertainment for Pat over the years are much appreciated.
Flowers gratefully declined.  If so desired, donations may be made in Pat's memory to a charity of your choice.
Viewing will take place on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline Street, Selkirk, MB, with Rev. Mark Satterly presiding.  Refreshments provided. Private family Interment at St. Clements Cemetery at a later date.
