PAUL KALYNIUK
December 28, 1931 – January 7, 2018
It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 40 years, Linda; daughters, Heidi, Zoria and Paula (Darren); son Karl; stepchildren, Pam (Kory), Dee-dee (Joe), Sharon (Chris), Laura (Barry); grandchildren, Paul, Travis, David, Allyson (Stephen), Troy, Colton, Rachel, Hope, Jones, Cara (Jody), Aaron (Rebecca), Amy (Justin), Katey and Jodi; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Landon, Zoey and Lyla.
Paul was predeceased by his parents Rose and Harry; son Johnny; daughter Monica; son-in-law Gary and sister Maggie. He is also survived by his niece Marie and numerous extended family, friends and neighbours.
Paul was born in Dallas, Manitoba on December 28, 1931. He spent his early years growing and working on the family farm and raising his five children before moving to Winnipeg.
When in Winnipeg, he became a bus driver for Winnipeg Transit, a job he was proud to hold for 27 years, retiring in 2000.
Paul met and married the love of his life Linda in 1977. They moved to their homestead in the Selkirk area where Paul enjoyed being outdoors, raising ponies, running a U-Pick strawberry and raspberry farm, planting trees and later growing pussy willows. Paul’s garden was his pride and joy and was known for generously donating many pounds of vegetables to the food bank and nursing homes in the area. Paul was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Selkirk Food Bank.
Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 16 at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Rossdale, Manitoba.
