Roland Dupasquier Obituary

Roland Dupasquier passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 31, 2019 at Red River Place, Selkirk, Mb. He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 60 years Alice, his children Lillian (Derrick), Robert (Shelley) and Janet (Damon) and his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Roland was born in St. Claude, Mb on January 31, 1935, a twin and the youngest of 9 children. Roland joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1955 in the Queens Own Rifles and retired with a rank of Lance Corporal in 1958. He then started his career working for Acklands Limited until his retirement in 2000.

Roland married Alice Cote in 1958 and were blessed with 3 children. As a family they enjoyed camping and fishing and many family gatherings. He also enjoyed spending holidays with his grandchildren at Lake Manitoba Narrows. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. When Roland and Alice sold their trailer at The Narrows, he found a new interest in wood carving.

He was a parishioner of Notre Dame Church and an active volunteer in the community. He was a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion #42 and an Honorary Life Member with the Knights of Columbus #6150. Following his retirement, he became a member of the Selkirk Catfish Carvers.

He will be missed and fondly remembered by many relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff of Home Care Services and Red River Place for their care and compassion.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday September 13, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, 269 Jemima St., Selkirk Mb with Father Stan Gacek officiating.  Family interment will be held at Notre Dame Roman Catholic Cemetery.
