Ronald Swirsky Obituary

Ronald Louis Swirsky

Ron, aged 69 years, passed away peacefully in his home on August 22, 2019 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Ron is predeceased by his beloved wife of 36 years Linda Swirsky (deceased February 16, 2007). He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Erin Swirsky, and grand daughter Lily-Jane Halayda. He will be remembered by his brothers and sister, Ed (Betty), Bonnie (Dave), and Lenard (Gerri), along with his numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends. Ron was predeceased by his parents Steve and Maryanna, his father-in-law Scotty and mother-in-law- Jean and oldest brother Bob.

Ron was born on October 14, 1949 in Gimli Hospital and was the youngest of 5 siblings who were all raised in Whytewold, Manitoba. Growing up, Ron enjoyed being outside, walking along the swimming docks at Whytewold Beach and helping his father at his mechanic repair shop. He started elementary school in Whytewold and then moved on to Gimli High School where he met his only love, and best friend Linda and also met most of his friends. His friends continued to remain close by travelling together and yearly visits during the Icelandic festival in Gimli, Manitoba. Ron started his first job after high school at a paint and glass company that specializes in sales and commercial hardware. He later worked numerous positions in sales but never deviated from commercial hardware that lead him to his sales position as territorial manager of Taymor Industries. As a sales rep, he was required to travel all over Manitoba and Saskatchewan with the occasional trips to Vancouver, BC. He was was known to sell anything to anyone with a smile and firm handshake.

Ron and Linda were married just before his started his career at Taymor and purchased a farm house and property out in Libau, Manitoba.   It was there they would start their small family and spend most of their time. Ron was always an avid reader, he loved non-fiction novels and would never go a day without purchasing both newspapers. His adoration of music artists Tom Petty, Bob Dylan and John Lennon would be playing in his car, raking grass, and Sunday driving with his family. He shared a huge love for all of his family dogs and devoted lots of his time and patience in training and walking the dogs daily in the fields. Ron would visit his family in Whtyewold where he would also love going on bike rides and exploring the beach.

Ron was a loving father, loyal husband,  and did as much as he could for his family and those he loved. He will be missed deeply and remembered for all the good memories and laughs he brought with him. We would like to thank our family members for all the love and support , and to all family and friends who shared happiness and love in his life.
