Rose Stankewich Obituary

Rose Ann Stankewich

May 8, 1930 to May 1, 2018

It is with deep sadness that our family announces the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister Rose on May 1, 2018 at the Betel Personal Care Home in Selkirk at the age of 87. Mom has gone to her Lord Jesus Christ to be with her beloved husband Edward.

She was predeceased by her husband Edward and her parents, Peter and Ann Dandewich. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Randal (Jo Anne), grandchildren Daniel (Sarah) and Cheryl (Daniel), great-granddaughter Nevena and great grandson Everett. She will be greatly missed by her sister Phyllis Rogoski and brother Ted (Stephanie) Dandewich and their families.

Rose was born on May 8, 1930 and grew up near Winnipeg Beach, Manitoba. She met the love of her life Edward in 1948 and they married in 1950. They settled in Winnipeg in 1957 and retired to Winnipeg Beach in 1991. Edward and Rose loved their time together in retirement spending countless hours tending to their beautiful flowers and gardens. They treasured their family and nothing gave her greater joy then being close to them. Mom and Dad had many friends and enjoyed their time together.

Mom was a very caring person always giving people the benefit of the doubt and putting others’ interests ahead of her own. She had great faith and passed this on to her family and for that we are eternally grateful. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Sister Cathy Laviolette for her love and compassion for Mom over the years.

A private service has been held followed by burial at Holy Rosary Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Betel Home for their compassionate care over the last three years and to the Gilbart Funeral Home in Gimli.

Donations may be made in Mom’s name to the Betel Home Foundation, 222 Manchester Ave, Selkirk, MB R1A 0B6.

Condolences, pictures and videos can be left on her tribute wall at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com.
