It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Sheldon on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the aged of 63.

Sheldon will be deeply missed and remembered by his loving son Evan; Evan`s mother Elaine; brothers Glen (Dolores), Derek (Cindy); brother-in-law Alan; in-laws Karl and Ada Schalk; sister-in-law Wendy (Neil); brother-in-law Ron (Audra) and numerous nieces and nephews. Sheldon was predeceased by his parents Jack and Clara Laye; brothers Jack and Clifford as well as his sister Selma.

Sheldon was quite an athlete in his early years, playing volleyball in school, baseball and hockey in later years. His favorite team being “The Club”. He immensely enjoyed spending time with Evan in all his endeavors. Sheldon started his career with Manitoba Hydro in 1974, working in various locations throughout the province, retiring in 2018. In his retirement Sheldon enjoyed reading, going on impressively long bike rides and woodworking, which displayed his creativity. He passed along to Evan, his love for nature and the outdoors, including fishing, camping and picking wildflowers.

A private family ceremony will be held at Gilbart Funeral Home.
