Veronika Ann Stevenson (Sprechert)

February 15, 1947 – January 8, 2018

Veronika passed peacefully at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre on January 8, 2018 surrounded by the love of her family. Special thanks to Matilda for all your love, strength, courage, prayers, and support.

Veronika was predeceased by her husband Jack (48 years of marriage), their first born grandson Jamie, mom (Victoria) & pop (Fred), Oma (Margarite) & Opa (Willy), brothers’-in-law Harold, Leisk, Keith, and Hughie, as well as nieces and nephews.

Veronika will be remembered and sadly missed by cherished friend Matilda Martin, daughters: Teresa (Craig) and Candy (Frank). Grandchildren Tabitha (David), Angie (Dan) and Franklin. Great-grandchildren Skylar and Karson. Family’s most faithful companions Carona and Weeko. Veronika’s surviving siblings: Barbara, Rose, Karla, Anne, and brother Detlef (Deb); Jack’s surviving siblings: Percy (Carolyn), Steve (Verna), Emeline, Marlene (Heinz), Brian (Glenda), Doug (Mary Jane), Ellie, Donna (George); and many nieces and nephews.

Veronika was born in Bruckmühl, Germany in 1947. She arrived in Canada at the age of ten, along with her parents and five siblings. Prior to her demise she had returned to Germany for an exciting holiday stopping in to say hello to childhood friends. Jack and Veronika married in 1969 in Selkirk, Manitoba. Their lives were blessed with 48 years of marriage until Jack’s demise on July 19, 2017. They leave behind memories cherished time spent in the company of family and friends – the daughters’ weddings, the births of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, backyard barbeques, trips to the beach, the enjoyment of socializing at bingo, gardening, seasonal berry picking, knitting, needlepoint, leather crafts, beadwork, enjoyment of car rides through park snacking on onion rings, playing solitaire, or sitting on the deck relaxing on the swing and coffee was always on and waiting for friends and family.
