William (Bill) Phillips Obituary

 

William James “Bill” Phillips was born on June 2, 1951, in Selkirk, Manitoba.  He was the first born son to Sgt. Joseph Hilliard Spencer Phillips (deceased) and Anna Phillips (nee:  Oliver).  He was the older brother, and protector, of middle brother John (Jackie), and baby sister Joanne (Kelvin).  He was the proud father to daughter Jessica (Eric), son Jamie, Grandpa Bill to Lilja and Lio, and Uncle to Travis (Kelly) and  Tyler (Kerstin),

In his youth, Bill was a star athlete and bright student.  As a man, Bill was a fearless defender of what he thought was right, and pursued a life of happiness.  

On May 17, 2019, at the age of 67, he succumbed to his battle with cancer.  He was surrounded by his loved ones, and knew right up to the very end how much he was, and will be loved.  

His ashes will be buried with his father’s remains, as per Bill’s request, at the St. Clement’s Anglican Cemetery (across the street from the former Manitoba Rolling Mills, Selkirk, Manitoba (1178 River Road, Saint Andrews, Manitoba) on Friday, June 14, 2019, at 1:00 pm, followed by a celebration of his life, at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd (106 Sawchuk Dr, St. Andrews (across from the cemeteries) Manitoba.  All family, friends and well wishers are welcome to attend.  All inquiries can be made to Gilbart Funeral Home in Selkirk, Manitoba.  In lieu of flowers please send a donation to your favourite animal shelter.
