Obituary

Adeline Starodub (nee Dupuis)

With great sorrow we announce the passing of our Mother and Grandmother, Adeline Starodub (nee Dupuis) on November 1, 2025.

Adeline will be missed by her children, Walter Jr. (Linda), Sue (Tom), Tim (Eileen), Michael (Patricia) and Lori (Nick); grandchildren Megan, Douglas, Michael, Sam (Jacqueline & daughter Lauren), and Sarah (Patrick); son-in-law, Reid Peebles; sisters-in-law Jean Dupuis, Helen Starodub, and Helen Chawrun.

She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Sr; daughter, Linda Peebles; parents, David and Elide Dupuis; brothers, Bill (Anne), Marcel (Kay), and Andy; sisters, Rose (Joe) Salnek, Cecile (Ovila) Berard and Alice.

Mom was born on January 24, 1930, in St. Jean Baptiste, Manitoba, and moved with her family to the farm in Kirkness when she was eight years old. Mom spoke fondly of her life growing up on the farm where she learned to be the resilient and resourceful woman she was.

On October 18th, 1952, she married Dad and lived on the Starodub family farm until eventually moving into what became our family home in East Selkirk. There, they built their life together and became long-standing parishioners of St. Stanislaus Church.

Caring for others was natural for Mom. We felt this at home, when with family and friends, and in her time working as an aide at Tudor House Care Home.

Food was Mom’s love language—she never met anyone she didn’t want to feed. She was a wonderful cook and baker, and her care packages were always prepared with love.

She was a voracious reader and whiled away many hours with a book in hand. Mom also enjoyed walks, Bingo, classic movies, and hearing about everyone’s travels. Her grandchildren were her joy and she was so very proud of them.

A woman of faith, Mom believed absolutely in the power of prayer. Her rosary was ever-present. We know she is with our Lord.

Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, November 14th at 11:00 a.m. in the Notre Dame Catholic Church, 269 Jemima Street, Selkirk, MB with Fr. Gerald Langevin officiating.   Private interment to follow in the East Selkirk Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Siloam Mission.
