Allan George Eames (Cowboy)
October 2/1946-February 6/2026
It is with deep sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of Allan Eames on Friday Feb 6, 2026 after his 3.5 year battle with cancer.
Allan is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Carol, daughter Shelley (Peter), son Doug (Crystal), grandkids, Stephanie (Steve), Matthew (Malerie), Caitlin (Connor), Dustin, and Great Grandson Lucas who brought him so much joy. Allan is also survived by his brother Doug (Linda), sister, Laverne, Carol (Dale) & Linda, many nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
Allan was pre-deceased by his father Albert(Cowboy) in January, 1996, his mother Kathleen (nee Flett) in January 2013, his infant sister Kathleen in 1943.
Allan started working for Goodbrandson’s transfer at a young age as a helper, cleaning up around the shop. Everyday he would ask “would you like me to come back tomorrow?” He was told to keep coming back until they told him to stop. During his time there he drove straight job, then in 1985, Goodbrandson’s purchased a brand new Western Star which he drove with pride, then working in the office.
On April 30, 2011 after 46 years Al retired, Lefty told him he could officially stop coming to work.
Besides spending time with his family, Al played hockey (for The Club), he coached Doug’s hockey team, he also enjoyed watching his favourite team’s on TV, Winnipeg Jets and Winnipeg Blue Bombers, yelling at them as if he was their coach.
Al’s favourite weekend pastime was getting together with family and friends and playing his guitar and having a few beers. Kitchen parties were a normal occurance on Taylor Ave, anybody who stopped by was welcome, even the solicitors.
The family would like to thank Dr Wong, Dr Alexander & Dr Brown along with all their staff at Cancer Care. We would also like to thank the doctors/nurses at Selkirk & District General Hospital, especially Nurse Cory for his care and compassion from day one.
Flowers are gratefully declined, donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba or Palliative Care Selkirk in Allan’s name.
There will be a celebration of life on Sunday March 8, 2026 @ 1:00PM at the Selkirk Legion Br 42
