Amy Ridgway Obituary

Amy Elizabeth Ridgway
 November 21, 1936 - February 13, 2020
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Amy Ridgway on February 13, 2020. She will be lovingly remembered by her children and grandchildren: Delmarie (Svend, Vicky, Leigh-Ann, Erika, Erik), Lynette (Tsara, Jady, Brandessa, Khiya, Dar, Cash, Chance, Rye), Robert (Tyler, Tara), and Ramey (Tobin, Avery, Adynn), her 15 great-grandchildren, 3 great- great-grandchildren, and brother Bill.
Amy was predeceased by her husband Stan Ridgway, by her first husband Bob Cyr, son Henry, parents Maude and Joseph Chambers, and her brother Frank.
Amy was born and raised in southern Alberta and moved to Selkirk, Manitoba in 1960. She had a dream to become a teacher. She went back to school to complete teachers’ college and begin teaching. She continued her education while raising her family and received her Bachelors of Education. She taught grade one for a few years and established the first nursery school in Selkirk. In 1976 Amy began teaching grade 5 students in St. Norbert, Manitoba until she retired at 58 years of age.
Amy loved spending time sharing her passion for music and plays with her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. She travelled all over the world and passed that sense of adventure to her family. She loved the Caribbean and spent several summers there teaching with OCOD. Amy was very social with a wide circle of friends, greatly enjoyed playing bridge, and was very fond of her P.E.O. Sisters.
Amy love to bake with her grandkids. She was a wonderful cook and baker and all her family and friends were welcome at her table.
Donations in her memory can be made to The Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba, CE501-840 Sherbrook St. Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, R3A 1S1.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring of 2020 with more details at that time.
