Anne Penziwol (nee Kaminski)
July 25, 1929 – November 11, 2023
It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our dear wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother at the age of 94 on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023 at Gimli Betel Home.
Anne leaves behind her beloved husband of 72 years, Mike, her children Peggy, Barry (Susan), Karen (Tyrone), Ron (Janice); grandchildren Shannon, Lyle (Katy), Kimberly, Bradley (Vanessa), Caila (Stephen), Eric (Avery), Kyle, Derian (Alyssa); great-grandchildren Logan, Eli, Rocco, Lily and Lawson (born Nov 10th). She is also survived by her sister Mary, sisters-in-law Eleanor and Joyce along with many nieces and nephews.
Anne was predeceased by her parents Frank and Petronella Kaminski; brothers Joe, Ralph, Jack, Walter and Ben; sisters Binnie and Carol. She was also predeceased by her parents-in-law Adam and Lena Penziwol; plus numerous family members.
She was born and raised on the farm 6 miles west of Gimli. She was a devoted Catholic; sang in the choir at St Cyril & Methodius Church and was on their executive. Anne joined St Michael’s R.C. Church in Gimli. She was a C.W.L. member for 40+ years and served as President one year. She also sang in the choir and performed many other church duties.
Anne was active in sports; women’s baseball, bowling, curling and darts. She was involved with many volunteer organizations especially at Gimli Betel Home. She was well known for her laughter, jokes, her different Halloween costumes and funny dress-ups for family gatherings. She also enjoyed her Birthday Luncheon Group and her Chicken Chef Coffee Ladies; but most of all she loved when her family gathered at her table. We fondly talk of Mom’s dills and homemade chicken soup along with all the traditional foods. Nobody left her place hungry.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Adeniyi, the staff of Gimli Community Health Centre, the staff of Gimli Betel Home and the Homecare Girls for their kind and compassionate care.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 18th at 10:00 a.m in the St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church. Coffee and luncheon to follow downstairs. Interment to take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for a charity of your choice.
