Anthony Swystun

November 28, 1935 – June 18, 2022

Peacefully, on June 18, 2022, Anthony (Tony) Swystun, aged 86 years, passed away at Tudor House in Selkirk.

Tony is survived by his loving and caring wife Germaine (nee Homenick) of 65 years, sons Dale (June) and Brent, sister Donna (Reg), grandson Kyle (Susan), and 2 great-grandchildren Jasper and Esther. Tony is predeceased by his parents George and Mary (nee Lechowicz), and sisters Julia (Wally), Mary (Wally), and Elsie (Bill).

Tony was born in Selkirk, MB and loved to tell stories about growing up on the farm in Rossdale, MB.  Tony met Germaine at a barn dance in East Selkirk and they married in 1956. They lived in Winnipeg, Gonor, and St. Andrews where they lived for over 50 years in the home they built on McLennan Road.  He obtained his pilot license in the 1950s and loved sharing stories of his time in the sky. Tony started working at CN in 1953 and retired in 1991. Tony’s retirement was spent travelling to visit family and friends, helping with home renovations, playing bingo, watching horse racing, and feeding the rabbits and birds.  Tony was a devoted husband, dedicated father, kind brother, generous grandpa, and loyal friend.  We will miss him dearly.

A very big thank you to all the staff at Tudor House who took great care of Tony the past 2 years.

A private celebration of Tony’s life will take place at a later date.
