April Colleen Duguid
April 2, 1971-February 27, 2025
It's with great sadness that we share the passing of April Colleen Duguid on February 27, 2025 at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre.
April is survived by her loving mom Emily, sister Dawn, brother Bradley (Sharon), her nieces Jennifer (Ian), Colleen (Rob), Ashton, nephews Jared (Laura) and Ryan (Chelsea), great-nieces Hayley (Jacob), Dannae (Carter), Lanayah, Emma, great-nephews Kobe (Brooklyn), Sammy, Nijaah, Theodore and great-great-nephew Bryson. April was predeceased by her father Arthur Duguid and brother Garth Duguid.
April was born in Winnipeg, MB and grew up alongside her sister and brothers in Selkirk, MB. She often reminisced of many road trips to Saskatchewan to visit family, and one special family trip to Disney World when April and Bradley spent so much time going on rides, visiting Sea World and having the time of their lives a memory they still talked about to this day. She loved spending time baking and doing crafts with her nieces and nephews. If there were kids in the living room playing you could bet she would be right in there playing with them. April was always finding different ways to express herself, one of which was writing beautiful poems. She wrote a poem titled "Dreamer" and was so proud when it was chosen to be published in the book "Tears of Fire" as a part of the national library of poetry. Halloween was a favourite holiday of hers. She had fun helping her nieces and nephews create different costumes. In her younger years April found pleasure in volunteering at Tudor House in the activities department building lots of friendships with the residents. April and her mom enjoyed going to bingo and also going for car rides blaring country music just taking in the sights.
The family would like to thank the staff at Tudor House for the care they provided for April in the last few years. They would also like to thank the staff at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre in ER and Medicine 2 ward for their care and compassion in April's final days.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will take place at Gilbart Funeral Home on March 14, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. with reception to follow.
