Arnold (Ron) Furdyk

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the sudden passing of the love of my life Arnold (Ron) Furdyk on October 31, 2023.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife Beatrice (Bea) of forty years; his sister Cindy Hoogervorst; his two daughters Rhonda Furdyk and Laurie (Robin) Massey; his three granddaughters, one grandson and great grandchildren;  his sisters-in-law Madeline, Mary, Sharon and brother-in-law Clarence Hood and his favorite niece Val Olson plus numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews; two godchildren Terry Waterman and Adrianna Hoogervorst, many friends, and his coffee buddies at MORI.

He is predeceased by his parents Anne & Jozef, his brother Joe & Gail, sister Leona & Reggie Waterman, Adele & Dale Tyler, mother of his daughters Mariette, his brothers-in-law Cornell Hoogervorst, Orton Cochrane, George Ferris, Pierre Rivard, Peter Doell & Henry McDonald, sister-in-law Leona Doell; uncles and aunts & nieces and nephews.

Ron was born in Sioux Lookout, Ontario on April 23, 1938.  He moved to Selkirk at an early age where he attended school.  After High school he went to work with CPR Railway and for brief time at Merchant Hotel as bartender. He attended Red River College where he obtained his Welders Certificate.  He then went work for AMSCO(ABEX) where he was promoted to Personal Director where he held this position until he retired in 2001.  Ron served also on the Union at AMSCO as President, was a member of Royal Canadian Legion in Selkirk, Mb and was President of over 60 club. He enjoyed going to Forbes Lake for fishing with the Watermans.

After he retired Ron enjoyed his vacation to Mazatlan, Mexico with his wife and friends Sharon & late Lorne Thorvaldson, Cheryl & late Mervin Sinclair, Sharon & late Henry McDonald. After Matzlan he spent winters in Bullhead, Arizona where he spent time golfing with his wife and friends Dennis & Ruth Stewart.  Ron loved his casino trips to USA and South Beach.  He enjoyed his trips by car and loved to meet people on his travels.   Ron was a kindhearted person was a friend to all who knew him.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place, and no formal funeral will be held.

A celebration of life will be held on November 4, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Clement’s Cemetery Columbarium, Selkirk, MB, with The Ven. Godfrey Mawejje officiating. Lunch and coffee will follow at the St. Clement’s Hall.

Thank you to all for your support, cards, and phone calls at this difficult time especially to sister Mary Rivard, brother Clarence Hood and niece Val Olson.

In lieu of flowers please give to St. Clements Church funds.
