Obituary

Arthur Rodgers

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Arthur Hill Rodgers III (born August 27, 1978).

At the age of 46 years young, Arthur passed in his home of Winnipeg Beach on December 26, 2024. He is survived by his son Daniel, mother Paulette, sister Trisha, father Arthur II, step mother Colleen, and brother Brad.  Cats Phil & Sophie --- not to mention many family and friends throughout.

Arthur was born and raised in Winnipeg Manitoba.  True to redhead form, he was known to be a rambunctious little guy who grew to be a steadfast and honourable man.  He spent his time as a true sports fan with his favourite teams being New York Rangers, New York Giants, Toronto Blue Jays.  He could often be heard talking about the latest game or discussing the wins and losses while giving his opinion on what could have been done better. Not just a spectator – Arthur played hockey himself from 1983-1995 in Winnipeg with many fond memories at the hockey rink.

Growing up Arthur would spend a lot of his summers in Winnipeg Beach at his grandparents’ --  Paul & Olan Isfeld,   Wonderful memories from playing hide and seek, fishing, helping tend to the nets with Grandpa Paul and walks down to the creek, shots of pop in the fish shack.    These memories are precious to Arthur and the entire family that was lucky enough to share in the fun.   Arthur would  later come  to call that same house his home and was so proud to carry on the family memories and make new ones.

Arthur shared fond memories of time shared with his father Arthur II at a younger age.  Arthur was known for having an affinity for machines such as dirt bikes, quads and snow mobiles.  Not high quality machines though.  Arthur liked the diamonds in the rough – the “fixer uppers”

Arthur recently shared memories of dirt biking with his father at a you ng age and regaled us in stories of working on that bike and how tough and frustrating it could be.  Through that though you could see the memories were dear to Arthur.

No matter the situation, Arthur always knew what being a son meant.  A son to a his father Arthur II and his mother Paulette.  Memories big or small – family was important to him.

Paulette being there for the big moments in life and to be understanding and caring but for a little lady could give a swift kick in the behind when needed.  Arthur shred stories of Paulette being there lacing up his skates at the hockey rink and how insanely tight they would be.  The day he got his driver’s license and time after driving in her car and usually returning it on time.  She always made sure he felt the backing, love and support a son needs in this world only a mother can give at times.

As a wonderful father to his son  Daniel, Arthur was there every step of the way to make sure that he had a relationship and father he could count on.  His biggest pride in life is Daniel and the amazing young man he has turned out to be, Arthur couldn’t have been more proud to be Daniel’s father and seeing parts of Arthur in Daniel every day is a huge gift to all of us. Arthur loved Daniel with every fiber of his being.

Family was everything to Arthur.  While sometimes we didn’t see eye to eye as a family, we always knew we would remain a strong unit together.   One always up for a conversation about life growing up or  future plans --- he was always there when you needed someone to talk to or listen.   There to make you laugh, make you think, make you angry, give you advice even when not asked for.  He was an amazing big brother.   No one will ever replace the relationship and love he had for his siblings no matter what.  No one will ever replace that connection – and our lives are brighter because he was part of us growing up.

While  Arthur enjoyed his solitude. He was quick to make friends throughout life and work alike.

Arthur worked for Manitoba Hydro for 17 years and was placed throughout Manitoba such as Thompson, Gillam, Selkirk.  Proud to work in a meaningful yet tough job – he would regale us in stories of the different adventures he faced with the various projects and initiatives  -- never a dull moment that’s for sure.

Many are lucky to have called Arthur a friend.  A loyal, honest, and solid friend is hard to find.  Arthur was exactly that to so many people in his life.   Whether it was playing cards, watching a game or just hanging out – time spent with Arthur was never boring.  Time spent with Arthur is a gift and cherished in our hearts

Life won’t ever be the same now that he has left this world.   Every day is a reminder of the man he was and memory that remains and lives strong in all of us that are blessed to have had him in our lives.   The chain will never be broken, and his voice will never be silent for we will always remember him and always love him and the time we had.

A celebration of life was held on February 7, 2025, at Rossmere Golf and Country Club honouring his memory and love he gave all in his life.   We will lay Arthur’s ashes to rest in July 2025 amongst family, friends and loved ones.
