Benjamin Phelan Obituary

Ben Phelan 1970 - 2021

With immense sadness, we say farewell to our beloved Ben. He died unexpectedly in his sleep in the morning of Jan 28, 2021.

Ben is survived by his parents Bill and Patience, brother and sister-in-law Conan and Asheya, their children, and his cherished companion Carol. He is missed by his uncle and godfather David and uncles, John, Chris, and Michael, aunts Jo, Robin, Jill, Lynda, Brenda and especially his aunt Leona, as well his many cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Ben was born in and lived most of his life just outside Selkirk. He could scarcely walk half a block of the city without exchanging a friendly greeting with someone he knew. Ben also lived in Gimli for several years and often returned to visit.

Ben had a lifelong love of music and derived great joy from going to concerts, the bigger and louder the better!  He was an avid bowler and loved karaoke. Ben valued doing practical, useful work and he was essential to operation of the family farm where he lived most of his life.

In lieu of flowers we encourage a random act of kindness. Because of public health measures no gathering is planned at this time. However, we encourage everyone to share memories of Ben on his Tribute Wall here on this memorial Web page. (The tab above and to the right on this page will take you there.)
