Obituary

Bruce Christiansen

On August 6, 2025, Robert Bruce Christiansen, passed away peacefully at the age of 59 at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre after a courageous and lengthy battle with illness.

He was predeceased by his father Ed and leaves behind his mother Claire, sister Karen (John), brother Ian (Carla), sister Terry, his five nieces and nephews: Neil (Chris), Jeff (Ashley), Laura, Andrea (Matt), Trevor (Jordan), grandnieces Claire and Hannah, and many dear cousins and good friends.

Although he never had children of his own, he enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews as well as the children of his friends. Claire and Hannah brought special joy to Bruce even when he was not feeling well.

Bruce was genuinely kind and considerate and never hesitated to lend a hand to anyone. He loved to tinker with and restore to life anything in need of repair.

He was a very social person known for his story telling. He could turn the most mundane event into an epic saga sprinkled with his trademark humour.

He loved being outdoors whether it was manicuring the lawn, clearing away the snow or playing a round of golf or mini putt. He was an avid snowmobiler and made a few long haul trips to Clear Lake in Riding Mountain National Park, one of his favourite places.

Bruce was very loyal to his lifelong employer, Gillis Quarries Ltd. Over the past several years of his career as foreman he was committed to enhancing the success of the company with ingenuity and novel ideas.

We are grateful to HSC Transplant Manitoba and the Selkirk RHC for their compassionate care.

Bruce’s life will be celebrated at a private family function.

To honour his memory donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, or the Health Sciences Centre Foundation, and please consider registering for organ donation
