Obituary

Carol Ann Griffin

April 10, 1955 - April 24, 2025

On Thursday, April 24, 2025, at the Selkirk Regional Health Center, Carol Griffin, aged 70 years, passed away.

Carol is survived by her husband Wayne; son Mike Griffin (Kelsy), grandchildren Owen, Falynn and Lani; son Chris Griffin, grandchildren Lily and Andre.

Carol was born in Selkirk, Manitoba. She was the youngest of three children, older brothers Brian (Bev) and Bill (Shirley).

Growing up in Selkirk Carol met Andrea and Jane early in life. They became her lifelong friends who she loved dearly and considered family. Sadly, Andrea passed in 2021. Jane remained an important part of her life.

Carol met the love of her life Wayne in 1974 and they married in 1975 after a short engagement. They recently celebrated their 50th year anniversary. They were inseparable and shared many years of adventures, friendship and true love.

Carol worked for Selkirk Enterprise from 1973-1984 and then for Selkirk Mill from 1984- until retirement.

Carol and Wayne welcomed two sons, Mike in 1979 and Chris in 1983. After living a few years in Lockport they relocated to East Selkirk, where they raised their two children. Carol became a grandmother in 2004, when Mike welcomed Owen to this world. Owen gave Carol and Wayne so much joy, as he spent a lot of his time with his grandparents. They later welcomed four more grandkids Lily, Andre, Falynn and Lani. She was the proudest Grandma and never missed an opportunity to spend time with each of them.

If she wasn’t talking about her grandkids or showing off their pictures she was usually found on the computer playing “Junes Journey” , reading a novel, or playing kinsmen bingo. Carol also loved attending family gatherings and having lunch dates with friends and family whenever she could.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many. Carol loved her family more than anything and never missed anyone’s birthday or big events. Carol truly was the glue that held her family together, she will be deeply missed.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 1st, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk.
