Carole Ann Thomas (nee Karpoff)

November 15, 1946 – December 9, 2025

On Tuesday, December 9, at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre, Carole Ann Thomas, aged 79 passed away.

Carole is survived by her two sons; Colin Merkel (Tracy) and Shaun Merkel (Tannis); her four grandchildren Kaitlyn, Annika, Natalie and Kane; brothers Rick Karpoff (Michele), Gary Karpoff (Kris), and Myles Karpoff (Charlene).

Carole was predeceased by her parents, Bert and Audrey; husband Wayne and sister Barb.

Carole was born in Sussex, England and moved to Canada in 1947. She grew up in Rivercrest, West St. Paul, Manitoba.

Carole enjoyed her “beach life” and solitude. She loved nature’s beauty and always had a passion appreciating the details of nature.

Carole loved her family and friends and was very proud of her sons.

Carole was intrigued by her grandchildren and always loved talking with them.

Grammy CAT was known for her unique signature style and handwritten expressions of love in her cards.

Cremation has taken place, and at Carole’s request, no funeral service will be held. Carole’s wish is that “Family and friends will find unique ways to celebrate her life, (hopefully over a glass of wine!)”
