It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cheryl Rose Witko, who left us peacefully on August 15, 2025, surrounded by her devoted husband and best friend of 64 years, Jim Witko, their children Lori, Garwood, Dave and family.

Cheryl is lovingly remembered by her husband Jim Witko; children Lori (Rick), Garwood (Cindi), Dave (Gail); her beloved granddaughters Sara (Justin), Nicole (Manni), Hailey (Taba), who were the light of her life. She was predeceased by her mother Rose Sinclair and stepdad Henry; sisters Susie, Lynn, Carmen; baby brother Garwood; and her cherished in-laws John and Jean Witko. Cheryl leaves behind a circle of close family and friends who will forever cherish her love and memory.

Born on March 28, 1947, in Selkirk, Manitoba, Cheryl grew up in Balsam Bay, Manitoba, where she fondly recalled long walks to school, picking onions and berries from the ditches, and cherished time with her mom and sisters.  In the late 1950s, fate brought her together with the love of her life, Jim Witko. From that moment on, Cheryl and Jim shared an unbreakable bond, a marriage rooted in devotion, laughter, and the kind of love that endured through every season of life. Together they built their life in Selkirk, Manitoba, raising their family with strong values and countless memories. For a short time, their journey took them to British Columbia, but Selkirk was always home.

Cheryl often said, “I have the best family, the best husband, the best kids, and the best granddaughters.” The truth is, we were the lucky ones to call her ours — and she truly was the best.

She will be greatly missed by all those who's lives she touched. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with Father Gerald officiating. A private interment for immediate family will follow at a later date.
