Christopher Grier Obituary
Christopher (Chris) William Grier
1953-2026
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Chris Grier, who unexpectedly departed from our lives on April 13, 2026 at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, MB. Born on March 10, 1953 in Vita, MB, Chris was a man of few words but he cast a long shadow, a kind soul always ready to offer a hand or his truck to a friend or neighbour.
Chris loved classic cars, and could name every breed of cow or type of crop you might see. He was endlessly gentle and joyful with children and animals, and his handwriting was a beautiful neat script you may not have expected from the man with the perpetual farmer's tan.
Chris is survived by his sweetheart and wife, Daphne; his two children, Deena and Quinn, who he is wonderfully proud of and who both learned to catch and throw a baseball under his careful tutelage; his sisters, Cheryl (Earl) and Patricia; his brothers, Terry (Marlene) and Russ (Carol); and his brothers-in-law, Gordon (Grace), Harold (Holly), Murray (Gwen), and Dean Ross (Doreen). He was predeceased by his parents Bill and Joyce, his brother Greg, and his mother-in-law Beatrice.
A Celebration of Chris's Life will be held in Riverton, MB for family, with his interment to take place in Greenridge under the summer sun. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada in Chris's memory.
