David Still Obituary

David John Still

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of David John Still on March 16, 2024 in Selkirk, MB.

David John Still was born to John and Beatrice (Begg) Still on September 16, 1963  in Selkirk, MB.

David also known as the Mexican, was one of two children born to John and Bea and their only son. Dave and his sister Pat grew up in Selkirk/St. Andrews on Craig Avenue. This was known to many as Stillville because of the many Still families that lived in the neighbourhood. His cousin Ed Still grew up across the street. You would often find them together. Ed and Dave were like brothers and if you asked them they would always call each other brother. Dave and Ed were born one day apart. Dave enjoyed spending time with family and friends, never hesitating to lend a helping hand in any way he could. He enjoyed a good laugh, always joking around. Dad had a love for motorcycles and loved riding in his younger years.

David worked as an aircraft maintenance technician for many years. This work led to some travelling. David spent some time working abroad in Africa. Dad loved telling us stories about his time working there.

Dad also liked to fish in his spare time. Dad and Destiny spent many father/daughter days down at the red fishing. They carried this tradition on through Destiny’s childhood right until his passing, always taking time out each year to spend a few days fishing together down at the red.

Dad loved spending time with his grandchildren, always helping out in any way he could. He loved to pick them up and walk them home after school. Dad was great with kids, always playing and wrestling. Who’s the champ as he would always say.

David will be dearly missed by all whom knew him. We take comfort knowing he is at peace.

David is survived by his two daughters Destiny and Jade (Brady); long time partner Shelley; sister Pat (Dean) Bird; grandchildren Lexi, Karter, Meleena; nieces Alana (Andrew), Amber, Andrea and many more family and close friends.

He was predeceased by his mother and father, cousin Ed Still, friends David Gunn and Glen Pruden.

A viewing will be held on Thursday March 28, 2024 from 1:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, MB.

Burial and Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
