Deborah (Debbie) (Hawrysh) Bertrand

Deborah Ann Bertrand (nee Hawrysh) passed away peacefully on November 24th, 2019 at the Health Science Center in Winnipeg, Manitoba with mother and her son by her side.

Debbie was born on January 9th, 1970 at the Selkirk General Hospital to parents Sara and Anthony Hawrysh. Debbie is predeceased by her father Anthony Hawrysh, Aunt Peggy Kirkness, Uncle Lawrence Jablonski, Uncle Ronald Freeman. She is survived by her mother Betty, son Dylan, many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends who love her.

Debbie loved to play the piano and went up to grade 9 conservatory of music in piano. Her great grandmother Sara Campion who was the pianist at the St. Clements Church for 67 years taught Debbie to play the piano at a young age. Sara wanted all her children and grand children to learn how to play the piano, but only Debbie was quick to learn and shared her passion.

In addition, to being an accomplished pianist Debbie was a fantastic artist. She would spend countless hours sketching. Some of her sketches are here for your enjoyment.

Debbie loved her jobs at the Olive Garden and at Sorrentos Restaurant. She was a dedicated hard worker, who was well liked by all. When Debbie wasn’t working, she volunteered her time at various charities and not-for-profits though out the city of Winnipeg. Debbie was so amazing that she volunteered at Winnipeg Harvest until the last week of her life.

Debbie was kind and caring, and loving person, who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

There will be a celebration of life on Thursday, November 28th at 3:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk, Manitoba.
