Dennis Joseph McKay

July 31st 1967 – March 5th 2026

It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dennis (Smoky Joe) Joseph McKay. He passed away at home with his loving girlfriend Melissa by his side. He had a hard battle with cancer to which he fought right to the end.

He was predeceased by his parents Reginald (Dino) Dennis McKay, Emily Elizabeth Race ( McKay/ DeGroot), brother Charles McKay.

Joey will be fondly remembered by his life long friends and family along with his faithful dog Sally. He had such a great personality that it would draw you to him and a laugh that would keep you laughing alongside him. He was someone you could always count on to lend a hand, turn a wrench or haul away some scrap!  

He loved spending time with his life long friends at gatherings, or just hanging out and having a good time laughing and shooting the breeze.

He was absolutely in love with Melissa and was full of happiness being with her and her children as he didn’t have any children of his own. He always spoke so highly of their time together even through the rough times during his fight with cancer Melissa stayed strong by his side. He regretted not meeting her sooner so they could have had more time together building their future.

As per his request there will not be a funeral but a gathering held in his memory at a later date(T.B.D) for family and friends to share stories and memories with Melissa and her children.
