Diane Margaret Marchuk Obituary

Diane Margaret Marchuk passed away suddenly but peacefully on July 6, 2021, with family by her side.  Diane was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, sister, aunty, and friend to many leaving a huge void in all our lives.

Diane was 77 years old and was born in Selkirk, Manitoba.  She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Marie Gulle, her 2 brothers Johnny and Victor Gulle and grandson Micheal Woloshyn.   The memory of Diane will live on in her children Denise (Darryl) Woloshyn, Kirt Marchuk (Jen) and Vickie Marchuk (Mike Clarkson), her brother Doug (Barb) Gulle, grandchildren Kevin (Courtney) Woloshyn, Karra Woloshyn (Dave Robinson), Rachel Marchuk (Curtis), Robin Marchuk, Mikayla Clarkson and her great grandchildren, Katrina, Michael, Owen Woloshyn, and Cooper Robinson.

Diane grew up mostly in the Narol area as a child before settling down in Selkirk Manitoba.  With what seemed like never a care in the world, Diane lived her life as a happy, welcoming, strong, and independent women.  Raising 3 children as a single parent, she worked hard to graduate from Red River Community College landing her a position within Manitoba Hydro.  Diane loved her job, the people, her supervisors, and the many card games at lunch.   After 20 years in the Power Smart Program, Diane retired at the age of 60 and looked forward to attending the Hydro X monthly gatherings.

Once retired, Diane started living her dream life known as the “beach” going down to lake known as Mantago Bay.   Diane loved the sun, sitting on the beach, painting her rocks while listening to country music, playing crib or cards, and then making her famous TP fire as large as possible!  Her weekends would turn into weeks, which then turned into months, only venturing home for more supplies.  Eventually all her children and even her brother ended up down in that area.

When not at the beach, Diane loved traveling with her children and family by air or by car.   Going to Cuba, Jamaica, Florida, Las Vegas, San Diego, and Texas, she never said “no” to going. When not traveling, Diane loved watching her grandchildren play hockey, soccer and swimming and was immensely proud of them all.

Diane always had her door opened to having someone come by for a visit, coffee, or chit chat at any time.  She will be extremely missed by everyone who knew her, as she always had an ear to listen, never complained and would help anyone who asked.

A special thank-you from the family to all those involved with mom’s journey.

A private family ceremony will be held at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Diane’s name may be made to IERHA Foundation, Selkirk Regional Health Centre, P.O Box 5000 - 120 Easton Dr. Selkirk, Manitoba R1A-2M2
