Donald Ole Ranseth
February 1, 1938 – November 10, 2023
Our husband, father and grandfather Donald Ole Ranseth, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023. Don was born to Ole and Mary Ranseth on February 1st, 1938 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Living a full and enthusiastic life, Don had passion for fun, hard work and a job well done.
Survived by his wife Olive Doris Ranseth (nee Mansfield) married 63 years, love at first site when they were introduced by Donald’s sister Elaine for a New Years dance in 1960 and married 10 months later. Loved his family and friends, famous for gathering us all every Friday for Happy Hour. Don is also survived by his children Alan (Monica) and Lori (Todd); grandchildren Graham (Meaghan), Erica (Aaidan) and Andrew (Lee); sister Elaine and many favorite nephews and nieces.
Predeceased by his parents Ole and Mary and his older brother John.
Music and machinery, playing guitar and his singing we will miss forever. In his career, he drove trucks, managed service, inspected and fixed motors in the marine and then aircraft engine maintenance industries, gained his engine test technician and quality inspector stamps at StandardAero Limited.
Raising a family in Springstein, Don enjoyed long summer evenings working in the yard, repairing small engines and visiting with friends. Moved back to Winnipeg in 1986, spending summers at Bird River and winter snowbird for over 20 years to Weslaco, Texas. Moved in 2006 to Petersfield, then in 2022 to Selkirk, Manitoba.
Service will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline St. Selkirk, MB. The service will be livestreamed via the following link https://youtube.com/live/jBMK0YaRSzY
