Donald Shumilak Obituary

Donald J. Shumilak

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Don on June 7, 2022.

Don is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda (nee Szarkiewicz); sons Ian (Karen) and Aaran (Lisa); precious grandchildren Zachary, Ariel and Chantel. He is also survived by, Carol (Max), Melissa (Alfredo), Julie, Janine (Usman), Tony (Heather), David, Kevin (Cher), Marsha (Mike), Jay, Justin, Richard (Bev), Andrew and Jaime, and numerous relatives and very good friends.

Don was born on March 10, 1946 to Anton and Sophie (nee Komadowski) in Selkirk, MB. He loved farming until for health reasons he had to retire but even then he would drive to check out crops and watch them be harvested. He enjoyed playing crib and whist.

Grandpa always had a crisper in the fridge stocked with large chocolate bars and each grandchild left with a bar when going home.

A private celebration of life was held.

Rest in peace, you will be in our heart and minds forever.

The family thanks Dr. R. R. Lindenschmidt, Dr L. Sexton and the staff of Beausejour General Hospital, and Home Care for all the special care he received.

Donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation or the Diabetes Foundation.

Condolences may be left on his tribute wall at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
