Douglas Macintosh
Douglas Macintosh, aged 88 of Meleb, MB sadly passed away surrounded by his loving family on December 8, 2025.
Born on April 13,1937 in Selkirk, MB to parents Donald and Gertrude Macintosh.
On his 17th birthday, Douglas joined the Navy for five years where he got to travel the world.
He met the love of his life, Albina and they were married in 1961 and were so lucky to be together for 64 wonderful years. They had two daughters, Shelley and Dawn. They lived in Selkirk when they were first married and Douglas worked at a furniture store. Then they moved to Red Deer, Alberta where he worked as a prison guard. Next they moved to Gimli where he was a truck driver, after that they moved to Arnes and Douglas got a job at Seagrams where he worked till his retirement. Their final move was to Meleb in 2023.
During their marriage they took many driving vacations as driving was one of his favourite things to do. They went right across Canada as well as into the U.S.
He was an amazing wood carving artist, he won ribbons for some carvings that he put in art shows, but showing them just wasn’t his thing so he only attended a few. His family feels so privileged that we all have the most amazing keepsakes made from his own hands that will be handed down for generations to come. He also made model boats did puzzles and was an avid reader, as he liked to keep busy.
He was an amazing man and was always there for whatever his family needed. He will be forever missed.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his loving wife, Albina, daughters Shelley (Jack),
Dawn (Larry), his grandchildren, April (Anthony), Scott, Andrea (Jesse), Brandi (Blair), his great grandchildren, Madison, Hunter, Tessa, Callie, Emmy, Nixon, Briar and Beckett. Also his loving dog Odie. He also leaves numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
His cremation has already taken place and there will be a private family celebration of his life at a later date.
