Edith Mae Jablonski (nee Geard)
August 23, 1938 – November 2, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Edith Mae Jablonski (Geard) on November 2, 2025, with family by her side.
Edith was predeceased by her husband Edward (Zibber); her parents Harry and Nellie; brothers Ted (Evelyn) and Charlie (Marie); sister Pat (Les); and niece Nelene.
Edith is survived by her daughters Judy, Teri (Ron), Sharon (Jamie); grandchildren Kara, Melissa (Chris), Kristy (Dustin), Kayla (Matty), Cassidy (John), Justin; and great-grandchildren Kaitlyn, Jaxon, Kamryn, Mila, Kylan, and Kinzley. She is also survived by her in-laws Bernard, Marcella, Theophil, Evelyn, and many nieces and nephews.
Mom was born in Selkirk and resided here for her entire life. She had many jobs throughout the years but her longest standing job was at Jeff’s Grocery where she worked for 25 years. In her younger years she enjoyed playing hockey, bowling, and watching Dad play baseball which often ended in a party with the team.
Mom loved spending time with her family, and her kitchen table was a place where many memories were made. Many wonderful meals were shared, games of Yahtzee and cribbage played, country music listened to, and laughter filled the room. Friends and family were always welcome. Whenever you walked into the house, Mom could always be found sitting at the front window keeping an eye on the neighbours. She loved watching her game shows and nightly movies, reading her books, eating her favourite junk food, and afternoon visits to play VLT’s. Her favourite pastime was talking for hours on the phone to her oldest and dearest friend for over 75 years, Loretta.
The family would like to thank the staff at Red River Place for their care and compassion for Mom over the years and the staff at Gilbart’s Funeral Home for their support and care during this difficult time.
In keeping with Mom’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family celebration will be held at a later date.
