Edith Jessie (Aime) Dell (nee Curiston) Obituary

Edith Jessie (Aime) Dell

October 6, 1929 – September 19, 2021

Edith was born on the family farm in Petersfield, Manitoba to Charles and Jessie Curiston. She grew up as the youngest sister to 5 older brothers and 3 older sisters.  She graduated from Success College, beginning her career in administration. Edith served many area businesses in secretarial roles; notably retiring in 1990 from twenty years of service from the Selkirk Mental Health Centre.

Edith spent her life in and surrounded by the people of Clandeboye and Petersfield, participating in all kinds of dances, plays, celebrations and picnics.  At the 1946 New Year’s Eve dance at the old Petersfield hall, Edith met Bob Aime. They married on June 3, 1950. Together they raised Charles Aime and Irene Marlatt on their Elm Glen Jersey Farm on Muckle Creek. Those good ol’ days included piano and song nights with Mrs. Janet Aime; and camping adventures, games and card nights with many friends, including Les and Marguerite McRae, and Garth and Irene Foster. Edith served her local community for decades, taking an active interest in community affairs. She and Bob opened their farm to some of the largest community picnics Clandeboye has ever had. A faithful friend and neighbour, Edith served local initiatives for years, including 4-H, the curling club, Clandeboye hall, the skating club, Manitoba Jersey Cattle Club and Wakefield Anglican Church.

By the time she was widowed in 1995, Edith was the proud grandmother to Gerald, Bobby, Jessie and Amy, often serving her soda buns and raisin cookies. She taught them sewing, needlepoint, baking and proper manners.

In true local fashion, Edith got to know Arnold Dell at the Clandeboye coffee shop. They married on February 21, 1998 and Edith gained the love of Arnold’s children and grandchildren. Edith and Arnold enjoyed travelling together and Edith formed a lasting friendship with Nienke. After Arnold’s passing in 2011, Edith relocated to her own apartment Lion’s Manor in Selkirk, Manitoba.

Edith was loved by her many family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Jessie Curiston, husband Robert Aime, son Charles Aime, husband Arnold Dell, and siblings Gladys, Francis, Pearl, Ernest, Lawrence, Mabel, Earle and Gordon.

Edith will be dearly missed by: daughter Irene Marlatt (Don); grandchildren Gerald (Rachelle) Aime, Robert (Crystal) Aime, Jessie (Kris) Wiedemann, Amy (Dan) Humeston; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Robbie, Nikolas, Izzy, Makayla, Liberty and Jono; daughter-in-law Deborah Aime; many nieces and nephews; and the Dell family: Erwin (Joanne), Werner, Elfriede (Stan), Hans (Bonnie), Brigitte (Gerald), Sonya (Brad) and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to HSC GD2, who compassionately cared for Mom/Grandma and kept her comfortable.

Edith leaves behind a legacy of hard work, strength and dedication to her family as a treasured example of a life well lived.

Please consider donating to a charity of your choice in Edith’s memory; or honouring her legacy by serving and giving back to your local community.
