Edward Miles Bell
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Miles on November 14, 2024.
He was predeceased by his parents Winnifred and Hannes; son William; brothers Wesley, Dwight, Terry, Bruce and Barry; nephews Trevor and Ernie; niece Terri Morrisseau.
Miles is survived by wife Gail; daughter Stacey; grandchildren Adison, Jaxtyn, Leilan and Teryl; his beloved pets, Spot and Freya; uncle Billy; brother Hannes Jr.; sister Lovisa; sisters-in-law Lee, Helen, Joanne, Nola and numerous nephews, nieces, in-laws and friends.
Born September 21, 1953 Miles spent his first 12 years playing and berry picking with his brothers on the Bissett ridges. He could be found reading or sliding down the rocks followed by Dunkin (the family dog).
Finishing school in Selkirk after the family moved in 66. He worked at Electro-Knit, MTS and file Masonry just to name a few.
He met the girl of his dreams visiting right next door, Gail Whiteway. They lived in Selkirk for a few years after being married then eventually made a home by Gail’s family on Matheson Island and raised their girl Stacey.
Miles was a jack of all trades. Very smart and mechanically inclined. He could watch, read, learn and remember how to pretty well do anything and was good at teaching others if he wanted. Plumbing, electrical, vehicles, carpentry, building whatever, buildings, sheds, lighthouses (I think Gail made him build these so “the bandit” could find his way home when he got lost for a few days at a time).
Miles would give a stranger the shirt off his back and made friends wherever he went. He was sought after by many to help with repairs and reno’s. It was just keeping him there long enough to finish the job, as he loved his drink.
He wore many hats throughout his life mason/brick layer, prospector, story teller, dog sitter, not so good pilot but the one he loved best was grampa and friend!
Thank you to his sparring partner Ding; nephews Trent and Jamie for always looking out for him; Wanda and Dana who were there to help him when needed.
You were one of a kind!
Goodbye brother and friend!! See you on the flipside!
