Eva Chuhie Obituary

Eva Chuhie (nee Gushta)

October 31, 1930 – May 24, 2018

Mother passed away peacefully surround by her loving children, Lorna Stelmaschuk; Joyce Banash-Frego (Russ); Philip Chuhie (Cary); Anna Recksiedler (Richard); Valerie Recksiedler (Arther); Debbie Westphal (Ed); Theresa Lagodkin (Peter); and Patricia Wallis (Ian); 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Jeanette and Valerie, and brother Albert (Anne), sister-in-law Pat, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her husband William; sons-in-law Alex and Paul, grandsons Kyle, Joshua, Christian and granddaughter Charlene.

Mom was born and raised in Libau, MB. She met our dad, the love of her life and they married in 1948. They raised their children together on the family farm where they taught us the rewards of hard work and family values. Mom spent many hours with her girls pinching perogies, and quiet time knitting and needlework. Other hobbies included gardening, making preserves and baking homemade cookies which she always had available for the grandkids.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk MB.

Special thank you to the doctors and nursing staff at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
