Evelyn (Lynn) Restau Obituary

Evelyn (Lynn) Joan Restau

March 7, 1953 – May 22, 2026

Peacefully, on Friday, May 22, 2026, at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre, Evelyn “Lynn” Joan Restau, aged 73 years of St. Andrews, Manitoba, beloved wife of Ed Restau, passed away surrounded by the love of her family.

Lynn was born on March 7, 1953, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the youngest of two children born to Jean Thiessen. She spent her early years in Marquette on “the Ridge” before moving with her family to Poplar Heights.

Following high school, Lynn moved to Winnipeg and worked for Grey Goose Bus Lines while living with her mother. On October 11, 1975, she married the love of her life, Ed Restau. Together they farmed near Wapella, Saskatchewan, where they welcomed their three daughters: Sherie, Crystal, and Tanis. After selling the family farm, Lynn and Ed returned to Manitoba and settled in St. Andrews, where Lynn devoted her life to raising her girls and creating a loving home for her family.

Later, Lynn opened a daycare in her home and lovingly cared for countless children over 21 years. Caring for others came naturally to her, and her grandchildren became the center of her world. She treasured every moment spent with them and took great pride in watching them grow into the people they are today. Lynn also enjoyed catering, serving others, and remaining active within her church and community.

She also adored spending time with her grand dogs and always made sure she had treats waiting for them. Those furry kids brought her so much joy, and she loved them dearly.

Lynn and Ed faithfully served for many years at New Hope Community Church, where their faith and love for others touched many lives.

Lynn was predeceased by her beloved mother, Jean Thiessen; her stepfather, Jack Thiessen; and her grandparents, Minnie and Joseph Prystupa.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ed Restau; her three daughters and sons-in-law, Sherie and Ferd Wiebe, Crystal and Dan Ingalls, and Tanis and Scott Perras; her cherished grandchildren, Kelsey (Brendan), Carl (Johanna), Carly (Fynn), Zach, Sam, and Julia; her brother, Carl Scibac; and many extended family members and dear friends.

Lynn will be remembered for her caring heart, unwavering love for her family, strong faith, gentle spirit, and the warmth she brought into every room. She will be deeply missed and forever lovingly remembered.

A celebration of Lynn’s life will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Community Church, 214 Henderson Hwy., Winnipeg, Manitoba.
