Florence Marion Haluk (nee Stefaniuk)
Dec 20th, 1932 – June 15th 2026

It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Florence Haluk on June 15, 2026, at the age of 93.

Florence was predeceased by the love of her life and devoted husband Ben; her parents, Dymetro and Anastasia Stefaniuk; and her sisters, Stella Stefaniuk, Olga (Bill) Kulpak, and Stella (Bill) Sempovitch.

She leaves behind and will be forever cherished by her son Geoff (Darlene); grandson, Derek (Jordyn); granddaughter, Meagan (Tyler) Cormier, her niece Carlotta Kulpak; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Florence was born in Prudhomme, Saskatchewan. After completing her schooling, she moved to Selkirk, Manitoba, where she met Ben and they built a wonderful life and family.

Florence found great joy in spending time with family and friends, reading, and traveling. One of her favorite destinations was Mazatlan, Mexico where she and Ben spent many winters. There, they volunteered teaching English at a local school, enjoyed long walks on the beach, shared countless laughs with friends and escaped the cold Canadian winters. She also loved organizing and participating in gambling trips with her close-knit group of friends affectionately known as the “Happy Gang”.  Above all else, Florence treasured time spent with her family.

Following Ben’s passing, Florence moved into the Kiwanis on the Red, where she embraced a new chapter in her life. She formed many meaningful friendships and rekindling some old ones, enjoying the companionship and support of those around her. Florence remained self-sufficient and determined until her illness. While she was a private person by nature, she always appreciated visits and time shared with family and close friends.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses and health care aids at Selkirk Regional Health Center for their care and compassion. A special thank you is extended to her daughter-in-law, Darlene, whose dedication, nursing expertise, and loving support provided Florence with comfort, dignity, and exceptional care during her final weeks. We would also like to acknowledge Fr. Gerald for his pastoral support shown to Florence and the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Florence’s memory may be made to the Selkirk District Community Foundation or Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation.

Cremation has taken place.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday June 23rd, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, 269 Jemima Street, Selkirk Manitoba. The Mass will be livestreamed and can be viewed via the following link:https://www.youtube.com/live/tHEnYqT2PmA. A private interment to follow.
