Obituary

 Kathrine “Gail” Pawluk

1941-2025

It is with broken hearts that our Mom, Gail Pawluk passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025 in the Gimli Hospital due to a battle with cancer.

She leaves behind her children: Tamara (Leon), Cyrus, Martha (Kelly), David (Jeanie); grandchildren: Amanda (Brendan), Sabrina (Stephen), Tristin (Kianna), Leif and Alex (Aurora); Great-grand children: Draven and Lily; her sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws and many nieces and nephews.

Mom was predeceased by her loving husband David Pawluk in August, 2019.

Mom was born in Winnipeg were she was adopted by her loving parents Ernest and Martha Thorndycraft. Although mom knew she had been adopted, she had only recently found out that she lived with her birth mother until she was 8 months old. She also found out her birth name (Eveline Karlenzig) and that she had a half sister, Vivian, who passed away just before mom discovered that they shared the same birth mother. Mom was hoping to meet and find more relatives in the near future.

Mom grew up in Winnipeg, lived in Winnipeg Beach and then Gimli.

Mom was a private and shy person who didn’t go out much, but when she did, she had a smile for everyone.  In her younger days she was often told that she looked like Elizabeth Taylor.    Mom was beautiful inside and out! She was a very loving Mother, Grandmother and Aunt!

Thank you to Dr Ade and staff at his clinic, as well to all the nurses, doctors and aides in the Gimli Hospital for taking wonderful care of Mom! And thank you Nurse Tammy for going above and beyond in comforting us!

As per mom’s wishes there will be no funeral service. There will be a private graveside service.
